Climate Changes: The impact on health in the communities of Carabayllo and Maras

Although some consider the effects of climate change distant, a baseline study prepared by Socios En Salud in the communities of Carabayllo (Lima) and Maras (Cusco) shows that for many people it is a current and urgent issue.

The research shows that water insecurity has caused 80% of mothers interviewed by SES in the Cusco province to show symptoms of anxiety. In the district of Lima, meanwhile, water shortages affect the health of children.

The findings of this baseline were presented in April at a conference organized by Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute in Boston (USA), where ideas were proposed to improve access to safe water and reduce the consequences of climate change.
