Abstract

Our findings support a three-pronged approach to improving adherence to TB treatment among adolescents: (1) reducing barriers to adherence (e.g., DOT at home or in the community rather than DOT in a facility, reducing pill burden and duration of treatment when appropriate) (2) teaching adolescents the behavioral skills necessary for treatment adherence and (3) strengthening caregivers’ capacity to support adolescents.
