With the aim of establishing coordination and collaboration mechanisms for the implementation and development of activities within the Reducing the burden of HIV and Tuberculosis in Peru by ensuring access to quality and timely comprehensive health services program of the Global Fund, we recently signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement with Diris Lima Este.
This will strengthen the fight against tuberculosis and reduce the HIV burden in the country within the framework of the Global Fund project, of which Socios En Salud (SES) is the principal recipient.
In this regard, some of the activities related to the tuberculosis (TB) component include strengthening the active search for TB cases, psycho-emotional support to people affected by tuberculosis (PAT) with the participation of community organizations, among others.
With respect to the HIV component, activities focus on decentralization and integration of prevention and care services for sexually transmitted infections (HIV and other STIs) at the first level of care.
It also highlights the administration of treatment for the prevention of tuberculosis in people living with HIV, in order to have an impact on the reduction of HIV-TB co-infection.
”The agreement signed will allow us to work together to provide care to the population affected by tuberculosis and HIV, strengthen the treatment provided, as well as laboratory tests,” said the general director of Diris Lima Este, Carlos Iván León Gómez.
The commitments undertaken will allow to carry out joint inter-institutional work to provide care to the population affected by tuberculosis and HIV, and ensure the sustainability of the actions carried out even after the conclusion of the agreement.
