There are 6 winners who will be able to start or continue professional training in higher education institutions licensed by the National Superintendence of University Higher Education (SUNEDU). More than 82 applications were received nationwide.

Socios En Salud, in coordination with the Ministry of Health (MINSA), has awarded 6 scholarships for academic excellence to the daughters and sons of Community Health Agents (ACS), who have high academic performance in the last grades of secondary education, and who come from families in a situation of poverty or present some degree of vulnerability. This benefit is a recognition of the hard work that the ACSs perform on a daily basis.

Initially, it was planned to award 5 education scholarships; however, thanks to fundraising by SES ENGAGE from Socios En Salud, an additional scholarship was obtained.

The academic excellence scholarships are aimed at empowering and training young people in technical careers that will allow them to obtain short-term employability. Likewise, indirect costs, refreshments, local mobility, stationery, tuition, study allowances, administrative costs of certification, degree or qualification, among others, will be covered.

Those selected will be able to start or continue their studies in Administration, Graphic Design, Topography, Mechatronics, and Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in institutions licensed by SUNEDU and the Ministry of Education (MINEDU): UTP, Senati Huancayo, IPAE, ITEP- Arequipa and the Pichanaqui Technological Institute.

“Ensuring access to education is an indispensable step to mitigate social inequalities, this will improve the employability and quality of life of these 6 young people, who will not only have the opportunity to improve professionally, but will also benefit their family environment,” said Genaro Anco, head of the Social Protection Program of Socios En Salud.

From Socios En Salud we are very proud of the commitment and effort shown. Congratulations to the winners: Meylin Lidsay Fuertes Quispicondor and Luis Enrique Borjas Iparraguirre, from Lima; Max Meyer Collazos Nieto, from Áncash; José Ricardo Quispe Quincho, from Cusco; Wendy Valdez Pandal, from Junín; and Yober Jhonathan Espinal Mendoza, from Huancavelica.

“It has been a year since I finished my high school studies and I did not have the possibility of accessing a professional career due to the economic situation in which we live. Now I will be able to study Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at the Daniel Alcides Carrión Institute and improve my family’s economy,” said Meylin Fuertes, winner of the academic excellence scholarship.

At Socios En Salud we will continue to work to eliminate poverty gaps through access to quality education in order to achieve a more equitable and just society.
