Despite the fact that the Peruvian State (according to Law 30825) recognizes them as frontline staff in primary health care, there are not enough efforts and incentives for the improvement of their health performance and employability (such as certified technical training) that would support the sustainability of their volunteer work.
This is why Socios En Salud, together with the Ministry of Health (MINSA), through our Academic Excellence Scholarships, aims to provide technical training to ACSs, allowing them to complete careers of up to 3 years.
In this fourth edition in 2024, we are pleased to announce the five lucky winners of Academic Excellence Scholarships who will have the opportunity to start or continue their professional training in higher education institutions licensed by the National Superintendence of University Higher Education (SUNEDU). This achievement is the result of a rigorous selection process in which 120 applications were received nationwide.
Socios En Salud is proud to celebrate this achievement and congratulates the winners: Dora Ysabel Flores Granja, Sonia Zeta Méndez and Esperanza Pasache Carmen from Piura; Edelina Rufina Sánchez Huarcaya from Ica; and Yessica Esther Palacios Mendoza from JunÃn.
The purpose of this initiative is twofold: it seeks to recognize and reward the efforts of ACS in their daily work for the welfare of community health; and it focuses on empowering and training beneficiaries in technical careers that will enable them to access short-term employment. Those selected will have the opportunity to embark on studies covering nursing, pharmacy, first aid, among others.
This is a fundamental step in our mission to work tirelessly to reduce poverty gaps through access to quality education, thus contributing to the construction of a more equitable and just society.
