The implementation of the virtual telephone center at the Hermilio Valdizán Hospital benefits more than 30,000 patients who are unable to go to the mental health center due to the limitations generated by COVID-19; thanks to this, more people will be able to remotely access specialized services in mental health care, psychiatry, emotional support, appointment scheduling and consultations, social counseling, among others.
Socios En Salud, in alliance with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in order to contribute to safeguard the integrity of users and ensure continuity of treatment, joins the efforts of Hospital Hermilio Valdizán to provide clinical, social and psychoemotional intervention, to improve the experience of external and internal user and strengthen this modality of care through the provision of remote mental health services.
This agreement was signed for a period of six months between Dr. Leonid Lecca, CEO of Socios En Salud and Dr. Gloria Cueva, representing the Hermilio Valdizán Hospital. However, it is planned that this agreement will be renewed in favor of patients.

The teleconsultation center made available to the leading hospital in psychiatry and mental health has high technology that supports the reception of 500 attachments at a time and is available from Monday to Saturday 24 hours a day. Likewise, Socios En Salud is in charge of the user support service for any inconvenience that may arise.
To date, 56,306 consultations have been recorded through the teleconsultation modality. This implementation not only benefits thousands of users in obtaining appointments, emotional support, social orientation, reports, pharmacy, suggestions and complaints quickly and efficiently through the dialing of a single number, but also allows internal staff to continue with mental health care remotely, since approximately 50% of them are over 60 years old and are considered vulnerable population in front of the COVID-19.
“The telephone center helps us greatly to improve internal processes, but above all to bring mental health care closer to the population with quality and warmth, since because of the COVID-19 the supply in the provision of health services has accelerated. Previously, the attention and accompaniment was face-to-face and now, according to the need, it has been virtualized. Our main objective is to decentralize the mental health system,” said Gloria Cueva, CEO of the Hermilio Valdizan Hospital.
