On Friday, December 4, a panel discussion ‘A Deadly Divide: TB Commitments vs. A Deadly Divide: TB Commitments vs TB Realities’, to bring together TB-affected communities and civil society to discuss the 6 key areas of action that need to be taken to change the TB paradigm and meet the goals and commitments of the High Level Meeting on TB. This online event is organized in partnership with the TB Coalition of the Americas and the Parliamentary TB Front of the Americas.
According to the report ‘A Deadly Divide: TB Commitments vs TB Realities’ which will be published soon, it is important that the approach to TB focuses more on key populations by taking action on people deprived of their liberty, migrants, indigenous population, among others. It is appropriate that Partners In Health in alliance with the TB Coalition of the Americas, through the regional initiative ‘TB KEY-LAC’, promotes this type of events with a more global and social focus.
Civil society organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean is the focal point of the entire intervention; therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the understanding of the TB situation and learn about community work experiences in the region in order to develop advocacy materials and documents that evidence the work. TB Clave LAC is funded by the Challenge Facility for Civil Society, which is a grant mechanism of the Stop TB Partnership and is aimed at civil society organizations and people affected by TB to provide an active, participatory and sustainable response to the disease.
