Community Health

Over the past year, visits by the Mental Health Program (SAME) team were instrumental in achieving high-impact outcomes in vulnerable communities. Such is the case of people living with schizophrenia served by the program: 99% of them achieved greater adherence to their treatment.

Since 2018, through the Pensamiento Saludable (PENSA) strategy, Socios En Salud provides mental health care to pregnant women and mothers in North Lima. Susana Gamboa, one of 22 community agents trained by SAME for PENSA, not only contacts people with symptoms of depression, she also makes sure they don’t drop out of their therapies.

Accompaniment is key to the comprehensive care that Socios En Salud offers to vulnerable people. At the Raul Porras Barrenechea Health Center in Carabayllo, 55 people with tuberculosis (TB) successfully completed their treatment thanks to the commitment of community health agents, strengthening care and hope in their community.
Inclusion and Diversity

In 2024, Socios En Salud reaffirmed its commitment to the LGTBIQ+ community by participating in the Pride March. Once again, its caravan accompanied and celebrated alongside the community, highlighting its unwavering support toward equity, respect and inclusion.

JunTrans, a Socios En Salud community intervention, is designed to address the needs of transgender women. It offers services such as screenings, mental health support, hormone therapy and employability workshops, contributing to their holistic well-being and promoting a more inclusive environment.
Maternal and Child Health

La intervención CASITA, del programa Salud Materno Infantil y Adolescentes (SAMIA), continuó sus sesiones en familias beneficiarias del distrito de Ventanilla.

The community intervention in early childhood development, CASITA, of the Maternal, Infant and Adolescent Health (SAMIA) program, expanded its actions to Ventanilla during its eighth year of implementation to benefit 150 families. In this new district, SAMIA adapted the sessions to be carried out directly in the homes.

Tuberculosis prevention and diagnosis
The TB Backpack is a technological tool promoted by Socios En Salud that combines digital radiology, artificial intelligence and molecular biology. Unlike conventional X-ray machines, it emits less radiation and is easily transportable and assembled in various areas. It has the capacity to serve approximately 80 people per day.
Mental Health

En abril de 2024, personas viviendo con esquizofrenia atendidos por el Programa SAME se reunieron en la clausura del Currículo de Rehabilitación. Beneficiarios, familiares y cuidadores vivieron un encuentro inolvidable.

In the last year, to improve the well-being of people living with schizophrenia, Socios En Salud implemented a pilot of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Curriculum that targeted 98 members of this vulnerable population to promote their social autonomy, personal skills and social interaction in the community.

Non-Communicable Diseases and Cancer

Como parte del proyecto ECSI, el Programa de Enfermedades No Transmisibles y Cáncer emprendió una campaña de capacitación en salud ocular a establecimientos de de Lima Norte y Lima Este.

The ENT and Cancer Program conducted training for professionals responsible for the Eye Health Strategy of the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (DIRIS) Lima North and Lima East in September 2024. In addition, it strengthened breast cancer diagnosis in North Lima after the Ministry of Health (MINSA) institutionalized its accompaniment model.

Con 51 años, Isabel Alegre continúa su tratamiento para el cáncer de mama con el acompañamiento de la agente comunitaria María Rosas, del Programa ENT y Cáncer de SES.

Abogacía

En el Día del Agente Comunitario de Salud, cinco agentes comunitarias de Socios En Salud de la cuarta ronda alzan la Beca SES que les permitirá cursar carreras técnicas.

In the last year, the fourth round of the SES Fellowship was held, which attracted 120 applicants. Of all of them, five community health agents from Ica, Junin and Piura were awarded scholarships to study pharmacy and technical nursing.
